Privacy
tickfern does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. There are no accounts, no advertising trackers, and no third-party requests beyond Cloudflare’s privacy-respecting, cookie-less analytics: no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting. The short version: everything the timers know about you stays in your own browser.
What is stored, and where
Your preferences (alert volume, mute state, light or dark theme, disc-or-digits view, skin and theme choices, and serious mode) are saved in your browser's local storage under keys prefixed tf-. This is device-local: tickfern has no server-side copy and cannot read it. Clearing your browser storage removes it entirely.
What is not collected
- No names, emails, or account details: accounts do not exist.
- No invasive analytics: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no session recordings, no heatmaps. Page views are counted by Cloudflare’s privacy-respecting Web Analytics (cookie-less, no personal data) so we know which timers matter.
- No advertising: zero ad tags means zero ad tracking, including for children using the kids timer.
- Nothing you time is logged anywhere; a timer's history exists only while the page is open.
Service worker and offline mode
After your first visit, a service worker caches the site's pages on your device so the timers work without a network. The cache lives in your browser and is removed if you clear site data.
Hosting and transmission
Pages are served as static files. Like any website, the host processes the technical necessities of serving a page to your browser (such as your IP address in a standard HTTPS request); tickfern adds no logging of its own on top of that and receives no personal data from it. Separately, Cloudflare’s own privacy-respecting Web Analytics counts page views on these pages: cookie-less, no cross-site tracking, no personal data attached. That tally is the only third-party request tickfern makes.
